Granville Island Granville Island - a market and shopping area, was created in the 1970’s. Prior to that it was a smelly, smoky industrial cluster of saw mills, lumber yards and light industry. Granville Island is man-made and is connected to the city by road - it is not an Island! There are boat marinas, theaters, fish merchants, boutiques and beautiful vegetable stands scattered all over this ‘Island’, not forgetting the Emily Carr School of Art and several art galleries. |
